Empowering HR Leaders: A Checklist for HIV in the Workplace

Empowering HR Leaders: A Checklist for HIV in the Workplace

Key considerations to help benefits leaders strengthen HIV education, policies, and support at work.

Thanks to today's powerful prevention and treatment tools, ending the HIV epidemic in the U.S. is finally within reach. However, fear and misinformation still keep many people from getting tested and accessing the care they need.

Given that nine in 10 people with HIV are of working age, employers have a key role to play in combating stigma and improving access to prevention and treatment.

This checklist for HR and benefits leaders offers practical steps across three areas:

  • Education: Build awareness, reduce stigma, and provide accurate, up-to-date information.
  • Policies: Ensure your policies protect your people and comply with federal and state laws.
  • Benefits: Make it easier for employees to access HIV testing, prevention, and care through your health plans and programs.
